Doom Movie

I guess the Doom movie is coming along nicely, according to the interview with id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead the movie is along its way and is suppose to debut in October!. In the switch from Game to movies there has been a few that arn't great such as Alien Vs Predators though it was a good action movie and resident evil movies werent a true conversion. I think that Id will make it there job to make this a true conversion of Game to movie and a huge hit with there fans. Of course all fans of the game are looking forward to seeing that BFG in action in the movie. The Monsters are also suppose to look like in the game. Karl Urban will be taking the role as John Grimm, leader of the special ops team.

IGN Chris Carle sat with Todd Hollenshead for an interview here are some of the highlights.

"I had only seen really the teaser before. I have seen the whole movie in development, but hadn't really seen the first-person sequence that they showed. When we saw it, it was only about 2/3 done, so to see it another step, another iterative step down the path to completion, was really cool. They'd even made tweaks to the teaser, which I think is going to be super well-received when fans get a chance to see it."-Todd Hollenshead
IGN: What would you say is your favorite weapon from the game translated into the movie?
Well, this probably is what everybody is expecting, but that doesn't make it any less true. It's absolutely the BFG. When we saw the gun on the set, taking a look at it, was like, "Oh, this is cool," because it's basically built the same way as the BFG is from Doom III. The effects on the BFG blast are all CG, so you can't see what it's like when they're actually filming it, so you just kinda gotta put your imagination to it. And…the first [time] we got to see Dwayne actually fire it, and you know, he's like, "Holy sh*t, this is the BFG," and we're like, "Holy sh*t that's the BFG!"-Todd Hollenshead
They then went on to talk about other game's that they will be taking to the movie which will probably be Wolfenstien and perhaps one of the Quake games. Also when asked about a Quake or Wolfenstien movie Todd had this to say.
"Well, I hope so. Quake is a bit more schizophrenic than the Doom or Wolfenstein properties, just because the story for Quake II and Quake IV are in the same universe, but Quake and Quake III are different from the other two. I do think that the Quake II universe would make excellent grounds for a film. With Wolfenstein, that's a project that we've actually had in development. We've been working with some writers and those sorts of things. It's obviously not as far along as the Doom movie was when it took off after we had the E3 showing in 2002, but I think as we go forward with a lot of those franchises, I mean… you haven't seen the last Wolfenstein game. I don't want to talk too much about when or what the next one's going to be, it's still very much in the drawing board phases, but I think as… my hope is, it's not too dissimilar from Doom III and the Doom movie, where we kinda had the game going on, and the movie really caught fire. So we'll have the same thing with Wolf as well."-Todd Hollenshead
I personally can't wait for the next wolfenstien game since the orginal holds a special place in my gamer heart since it was the first PC game I ever played. So hopefully this movie will be a success and be done well since Id software has some $$ in there pockets to do this movie correctly. You can also take a look at the full list of charaters at imdb.
